An Inner World Revealed

This is a collection of drawings I did while I was travelling, with a host of companions,   in Lemuria. Many of these are self-portraits!  Over a five year period,  while my late husband was battling cancer, and often confined to bed, I spent my nights drawing, Looking at these drawing now I can see that I managed to capture the inner world that sustained me during those long years. After walking away from my life in the city, and reinventing myself, my pencils have lain idle! They served me well! Today I give thanks to them, and to all those who fearlessly travelled those Lemurian roads with my multiple personalities!

Gorgeous drawings. Many of these I have in magnet form hanging around my home. I remember making the map of Lemuria on one of our adventures.

I well remember you mapping the journey Lori! It was all a lot of fun! I am amazed now at just what a creative vein we tapped into!

Great to see all these drawings. You were definitely tapping into a rich creative vein with Travels with a Donkey. Co-incidentally I re-read a couple of my Donkey stories yesterday. They were very time specific and I wouldn’t write them the same way now but they certainly helped me sort through some of my issues back then.
Maybe in revisiting your drawings you are opening the way for a new creative theme to emerge – something that draws on the past but goes to a new place.
I started up that new blog I was talking about this week. I’m not sure where it’s going but it’s definitely in a new direction. It’s exciting to be back in the blogosphere. I have you and the other travellers along the Lemurian roads to thank. You introduced me to a whole new creative stream and supported me while I found my feet. I am extremely grateful for that.
    Thanks again – Suzanne https://bloggingcalmandchaos.wordpress.com/

Thank you, Suzanne! Lovely to see you establishing a new blog. I will link to it. Back at the time that I did these drawings I was tapping into a very rich vein. In my mind, those were the heady days when the internet was new and we were exploring a new world that was not the overpopulated place it is today. Revisiting Lemuria is pathing the way for a new vision that I have with the artistic almshouse I am growing very slowly! Creativity heals and I am keen to connect people from all genres! I have a dream of finding a sprawling place where creatives can congregate but in the meantime, I am happy to have a small group here at While Waiting!

Hi Heather, thanks for linking to my new blog. I like the idea of an artistic almshouse. I agree about the healing power of creativity and of blogging. Those ideas were the driving force for me to venture into the blogging world again.

I wish you well in your future creative endeavours. As the internet grows the ways we can use it as a creative tool expand – in many ways it is already ‘a sprawling place where creatives can congregate’ but it is hard to find to other creatives within the soup of mediocrity that tends to dominate. I look forward to seeing your blogging adventures take you.

I agree totally! While the internet is a creative tool it is heavily populated and it is very hard to find kindred spirits. I don’t need to be noticed by the masses and I am not seeking ‘followers’. 2018 will be a busy year for me! Being able to engage in a small, self-sufficient group in an Almshouse setting will be important if I am to keep the creative flame burning brightly. Given that the healing power of creativity is driving your latest venture, do consider joining me in the closed Almshouse group https://www.facebook.com/groups/678422002368459/ For now, numbers are restricted! It is a place to share and connect! I am happy to let it grow by delay!
