Embracing Death

Raven seems more than a litle alarmed, but Donkey knows that to embrace death is to embrace life!

Gosh. This is profound. It resonates with a deep place within me.

Thank you! I am glad it speaks to you. I was very satisfied when I drew this! I am finding I can say so much more through my drawings at the moment!

That’s great. I haven’t picked up a pencil and done a drawing in years. I sometimes paint but just this week got so fed up with the mess I was making I threw the canvas in the bin!

Perhaps a canvas is too daunting at the moment. Maybe just play with paint. I just bought books by Marion Deuchers. She has some wonderful suggestions that I plan to use as kick starters.

Thank you. I was just tossing up whether to email you. My forward momentum (as expressed in my kangaroo post) appears to have led me slap bang into my own shadow. A story on someone’s blog suddenly reminded me of a time I had entirely ‘forgotten’ about. Another online friend gave me a link to a site on shadow work. One of the suggestions is to use drawing to uncover the deeper layers. I then immediately thought of you and wondered if you had any suggestions or know of any books that open the way into this kind of drawing. Of course if this is too deep for this blog or if you would rather not delve into this please ignore my query. – Suzanne

It sounds like we have parallel interests Suzanne! I am comfortable talking about shadow work and sharing ideas here but I am also very happy to have a deeper discussion via email.

Hi Heather, sorry for the delay in returning your comment. I’ve been away with family. Such a busy, noisy time the shadow is frightened into the shadows again. I’ve been having some very vivid dreams though. I’ll see what emerges now things are quiet again.

Now it is me who has been away from it all. I have been snowed under with a final essay for this Masters I have been doing. It is about the overrepresentation of Indigenous women in prisons so it has been pretty full on. My email address is my old one at fastmail if you want to make contact and chat 🙂

Gosh – that sounds intense. You must be reeling. I’ll be in touch when you’ve had time to unwind. Thanks.
